My motherboard is an MSI X570 Tomahawk WIFI with Realtek ALC1200, is it going to be enough? Does anyone use them with DAC/AMP? Is it really worth investing in Schiit Fulla 3 100$? I also have a cheap Apple Type C to 3.5mm DAC, is it going to sound better than my motherboard soundcard?

Yeah your fine you dont need a DAC/AMP for these headphones thats the main reason I picked them up for my PS5 because I wouldnt use a DAC/AMP with it.

menajHave you had any problems when using the mic on the PS5? Is it easy to mute and unmute without worrying that the controller will pick up any noise? Even better, could I use a headphone Dac (say the Topping DX3 Pro+) with this headset on PS5 with full functionality of headset and mic? I know you said you don't need a DAC with these but I like them really loud sometimes. 😁

I have the same motherboard. Any updates? Does the headset loosen up over time? I find them quite tight. Have you tried out the velour pads out yet? I've found them a lot more comfortable than the other pair.

I have the 1220 on those cans sounds just as good as my THX789 when running out of the front audio jack of my PC. Only difference is in maximum volume but I'm gaming @ about 50% and i game loud to hear footsteps. Also works great on my phone. The ALC1200 is the same chipset that comes on most external DAC's so it really would come down to your motherboard design to see if there is any major quality difference... i would guess not much. These phones don't seem to benefit much from higher end equipment - and they sound great.

Is it "enough?" That depends on you as the listener. If you're happy with it, there is no need to change anything out. That being said, the Fulla 3 kicks the ass of any PC out I have ever heard. The Fulla 3 outputs much more power than any audio out on a motherboard, meaning more flexibility on the choice of transducer.

Your motherboard audio will probably be good enough. I tried a number of different sources for these (including motherboard front and back audio ports) and mentioned them in my review here: https://drop.com/buy/drop-sennheiser-pc38x-gaming-headset/reviews/2732068?utm_source=linkshare&referer=MRF7UU I hope this helps.

Given that these only have an impedance of 28 ohms, your motherboard's onboard audio should have no issues driving them. However, since you already have it on hand, if you want you can definitely give the Apple Type C to 3.5mm dongle a try to see if you can hear a noticeable improvement. I personally use mine with a TEAC AI-101DA amp+DAC that I got on Drop years ago, but I've already owned it for years since I also use it with my Sennheiser HD 600 headphones.
