Seriously? We couldn't even get the MACs to the lowest drop, and you guys are voting for Takeda ?!
I wonder if those who vote actually look at the price tag before going click frenzy..
These are $300 ++ !!

LQDForceWe need to get a good set of REASONABLE knives on here. The people who buy these have other people buy it for them. This is not the place for these. Maybe find a set, a set, of knives for this price and I'd consider it reasonable.

ExonauticAll you need is a chef knife, really. Master it and you can do pretty much anything.
A good bread knife and a paring/petty are great, but not if it means compromising your main chef knife.
~100 bucks is all you need to shed for a good kitchen knife, unless you're a professional cook.

ExonauticIf "something else...." is a must for you, a Sujihiki for proteins would be my choice. You could also get a cheap chinese cleaver. Or a good 120mm/150mm petty knife for small tasks.

LQDForceI wasn't really specifying anything just something to make the set different from the cheaper stuff.

LQDForceI agree with LDQForce While there are some great knives on the list, and there ARE a mid priced ones on the list, it's completely useless because almost all are NOT ever going to participate in a group purchase, which is the whole point of massdrop, is it not?
There are a lot of artisan knives, and a few high quality, LOW production number knives that no retailer would ever consider a drop on. People need to use their heads This was completely pointless.

harrisonhTotally on point here. I tried to get a drop rolling for Yoshihiro Cutlery, they are based in Beverly Hills,CA so turnaround time should be super quick. Their knives are very affordable and provide excellent value for money.
Alas, never heard back from massdrop, despite 400+ votes on that poll https://www.massdrop.com/vote/chef-knives?s=gyuto
would have been nice to source a drop from a local business...

LQDForceI don't even cut bread with my bread knife. My gyuto goes through bread faster.
