Something larger than 2GB would probably be better. Especially for multi-monitor setups. I myself had 3 monitors: 2x 1680x1050 and 1x 1920x1080 (Main) which would greatly benefit from more >2GB VRAM. Just my personal opinion, I know not everybody has multiple monitors.
