Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Would these fit the bill ? Also reading some QC issues regarding the pads ?
I would actually recommend something like the beyerdynamic DT770 pro instead around this price range for travel. Probably the 32 ohm version as that comes with a shorter cable suited for traveling, pleather pads for less leakage/more isolation, and should be easy to drive with a mobile/portable device. I believe all the versions also come with a travel pouch also so you can store and handle it easier when not using it.
I guess it comes down to whether you are using these at home or outside. If outside, you'd probably want a closed back pair because open back design means whatever you are listening to will leak out and It won't isolate noise either. If you will only be listening at home and sound leak doesn't matter...then it kinda depends on what type of music you listen to. Closed back cans are generally better at reproducing the low end impact of music (aka the thump of the bass) and are not as good with the sound staging (the image of the different instruments and the positional cues of where they are relative to you). With that said, the K553 I feel does the best job I've heard with sound staging at around this price range, for a closed can anyway. Open back cans are generally better at sound staging but the thump of the bass will be recessed. If you listen to music with stringed instruments or vocal focused tracks, an open back tends to be superior in these areas. As I've said, I haven't head the HE350, so I can't comment on its actual sound, but given that they are based on the HE300 which a lot of people don't consider as good, I'm not sure I'd consider it anyway. Some alternative options for open cans around the price range would be the Sennheiser HD558/HD598 for a warmer open sound or the Audio Technica AD500X/AD700X/AD900X for a more airier open sound.
