If you are expecting a top grade decorated movement as shown, better check with Massdrop to make sure that is what you are getting. Many of the Alpina watches sold online these days contain basic grade movements with no decoration. It appears that they are being cobbled together from whatever parts are availble. This is, no doubt, due to a dump of non current inventory models Be careful no matter where you buy....I have seen incorrest hands ,different dials, different bands, etc,...CAVEAT EMPTOR!
CJ27Alpina made excellent products, and will probably continue to do so in the future. I'm just alerting the community that there exists a lot of questionable product being sold on all the well know online sites...ALL of them. Just check on line for pictures of original product and compare with what is being offered...before you buy ask does it have this/that, be specific, protect yourself. I know because I recently received an Alpina watch with substitute movement and incorrect hands from one of the most trusted sources on the net.
BREGUET88I can verify that this Is true. I ordered an Oris Gt3 Chronograph from MD some time ago and it was delivered with a yellow rotor. Oris has trademarked their famous RED rotor... and the red rotor was standard on this model watch on all other sellers. (Pics are of the actual watch received from MD)
I think some of the makers use MD as a clearing house for things they cannot sell otherwise.
I will say that I have been generally happy with my MD orders... but non-standard items should be rejected outright by all members until MD discloses in the listings that items are subject to alternate parts, colors... etc
DakotabI was not stating that Massdrop was selling the kind of merchandise I referenced, I was only noting that issues with Alpina seem to be widespread...so potential buyers should tread carefully. As for Oris, I don't know, did you check to see if your watch was a special edition item? Just a thought.
BREGUET88It was part of a "limited edition". The reference was to come with a special display case and a model of a Porsche GT3. Neither was included and the edition was to come with the Oris Red rotor, for sure. These three issues are fact.
I raised the noted issues with MD and they returned my purchase.
I would count myself as a better than normal customer of MD and will continue to be. But I will return any item that doesn't meet the OEM specification and encourage all to do same.
DakotabIf it's not as the photos show in the drop deccription, and it isn't an upgrade then you shouldn't hesitiate to return it! Otherwise Massdrop will think it's ok....just like training a dog
