Is this even worth the $50 for the 4.0 with y adapter? Seems like you can find one that price on amazon easy

RareAirsMake sure you are looking for the Muted Uni-Directional mic. There are 4 different versions of this product.

Tex-ArozziOk I see now. The muted unidirectional one is more expensive. Is uni-directional best for gaming like what comes on a gaming headset mic like the sennheiser game ones?

RareAirsUni-directional is the standard for gaming and voip headsets. You lose some quality but you block out a lot of the background noise. Omni is best if you're doing recordings for streams/youtube or just want to sound super sexy in a quiet environment. They both sound really good, of course. I'll do a recording and post it here in a moment.

AntlionJoeThat clip sounds really good! Was that recording plugged into the motherboard on your computer like a gamer like myself would do or is that in studio plugged into some other audio equipment? And was it unedited?

RareAirsHey Rare, that was plugged into our USB and edited to increase volume and reduce noise. I'm currently at home and don't have access to the fancy stuff. I just closed the window with the raw recording, but here's a re-recorded version raw.

With great equipment the ModMic sounds like the edited version. Wasn't really thinking too hard about it and certainly not trying to fool anyone. Depends on your use case, for live you'd sound more like the raw recording with just the USB. For any work you're doing on, say, YouTube you could edit in post to sound like the first one very easily.
Oh and @RareAirs just as a heads up. The ModMic 4 in this drop uses only the Uni Directional mic. The Omni 4 is discontinued, but you can get it with the 5 separately.

AntlionJoeI didn’t think you were trying to fool anyone but yeah the unedited clip still sounds very good. Atleast as good as my sennheiser game one mic which is known to have one of the best built in gaming headset mics so that’s good then. Looking for something to put onsome regular headphones seems like a nice option since I don’t want to spend as much as the 5 costs right now

RareAirsWhile there is a difference, I do think the uni-directional sounds great and the background noise decrease is noticeable, especially keyboard/mouse gaming.
