I guess my other one didn't post? I purchased the abalone dial ETA Aquacy. The watch itself is lovely. I love the abalone dial. The watch works extremely well, exactly as would be expected for an ETA based watch. My issue is with the fact that my watch had a divot/dent in the case, hidden underneath the bracelet. I didn't notice it until I was swapping the bracelet for the strap. It is a deep divot and it wasn't in an area that I contacted the watch case with the tool. Even if I had, there is no way the tool could have caused such a deep puncture/dent. I contacted aquacy about it and all they have said is that "it could have happened at the factory, but we'd have to ask." They haven't given any indication about any sort of compensation or discount. It's a bummer because I really like the watch, the style, the package they put together (case, extra strap, tool, cloth, etc.) The watch is really nice, and it's a good deal at the price. It just kind of sucks to buy a brand new watch and receive a watch that is blemished. I'm hoping that they contact me with further discussion about what they can do. I'd almost even settle for a discount on purchasing another of their watches because I like them that much... But as of now their response has left much to be desired.

MaestromoyThis is an anomily and not the norm. We have sent pics to the factory and waiting on an answer. Does not affect the integrity of case and should not show behind the bracelet/strap.

AquacySo it sounds to me the buyer won’t get compensated for a blemish. I was considering ordering, but now I have concerns.

MaestromoyFactory said that since they built the ETA and Miyota at the same time they marrked ETA cases so as not to get them mixed up with miyota during build. This was how they did it. During the machining process. They said it is totally hidden when bracelet it on and you should not be able to see when strap is on. They said it does not affect the structural integrity of the case at all.

AquacySo every ETA version of this watch has this mark? Call me skeptical because I feel that most owners that are not aware of this practice would object to being sold a purposefully blemished warch. The mark is definitely visible depending on what kind of strap you put on. Thinner silicone straps and probably NATO straps are going to show it. I think it's also an oversight to be using a manufacturer that their best idea for marking different cases is to put a blemish on the outside of the case. They couldn't think of someplace else to put it? Inside the case maybe so it's not visible once the watch is assembled? At the very least you should let your clients know that this is the practice being used by your case manufacturer and that they should expect to see that divot on the outside of their watch case. It's a total bummer because as I've always said, I really enjoy this watch, but I probably would have had to consider more carefully my purchase if I knew it would come with a purposefully blemished case. I am awaiting to see what aquacy proposes.

MaestromoyBlemish is debatable. Blemish definition "a small mark or flaw which spoils the appearance of something" Spoiling would depend who you ask. Objective for sure. It had a purpose in manufacturing process. So not really a blemish. Bracelet that comes on it completely covers it. We just took one and put rubber strap on it. Barely noticeable and with nato strap not at all. At this price point for ETA movement we are certain this would not concern most buyers. We will make sure it does not exist on next production run. We have seen some brands with bracelet models put serial #'s there and would be visable with strap on. So marking it with something in this area is not a new concept. Next watch we put out we will give you a special coupon code or some extra free stuff with it if you desire. Just contact us. We have your email on file. We are coming out with something nice in about 4 months that will be great and potential price point around $139 . Truly sorry you were not fully satisfied with the product.

AquacyIf this is going to be a continued practice moving forward it might be a good thing to mention something up front so that all of the buyers know that the mark is intentional. Otherwise they may feel the same way when they change out their bracelet or straps and discover the mark or think that it is a manufacturing defect.
