Yuraloverwouldn't call them fake. most likely just a dealer dumping stock which goes against Audezes policy. Definitely would stay away due to the lack of warranty and sketch factor

YuraloverWelcome to the beginning of the longest deepest depression the world has ever seen. If you can save a few dollars, and have the best sound to hide in a cave while the world crumbles, all good! Warranty shmarranty. Maybe hifi companies will survive as we hunker in our bunkers, or maybe there will be no one to honor a warranty! The question I ask is, are these reliable, or do they have reliability issues in general? My sense is we're all on our own now!

I think they did a similar thing with Chord products. I think the only companies they weould not do it are the ones they collaborate as that would jeopardize the business relationship

YuraloverDidn't Audeze have a major theft years ago? Curious if some of these may be tainted.

VinylLoverlol no, these aren't stolen, audeze is just distancing themselves because drop is handling the warranty. they're making it clear publicly they want nothing to do with them, likely b stock not labelled as such, so audeze is wiping their hands clean. shady af from audeze.

Yuralover"Fakes" this might be the dumbest comment i've ever read, and i've read some dumb things on here. Audeze sold them to drop, and the deal included no warranty on their end so they are publicly distancing themselves from them to protect brand image as many if not all of these are likely b stock but not labelled as such, since they're not handling the warranty they are now distancing themselves entirely from them so they can claim no responsibility for any issues that arise from units sold here. It's quite shady and transparent, but on the part of Audeze, not drop, but drop is the easy target for hate, so everyone obviously is pointing the finger at them for buying the units, not audeze for making a deal with them, selling them, and then publicly acting like they have nothing to do with it.

Or audeze selling a lot full of unmarked b stock and variance riddles units and then publicly distancing themselves because they're not offering a warranty, this way they get to protect their image if/when problems arise from units sold here, because they claim no knowledge.

tooitchyI think that VinylLover's comment might refer to what happened during the early stage of the collaboration between Drop and Audeze for the LCD-2C, but maybe I'm wrong.

tooitchyIf they sold them to drop, then why does their Twitter say they dont know where they came from and requested the serial number from drop? Asking for a friend

tooitchyWhy would Audeze's public message be a lie, when Drop remains silent in this debate? As long as there is no official response from Drop, the story Audeze is telling is all we have. And Drop doesn't seem to care enough to fight it with a quick response. If their hands were clean here, a response would have already been made.
YuraloverThis inventory comes from an authorized retailer, same as all Audeze inventory sold on Drop. Believe me, nobody's going to the effort to manufacture "fake" Audeze inventory, it's much easier to sell existing retailer inventory. When Audeze, or any other brand, refuses to support products purchased via Drop, we cover warranty support. Audeze is claiming "fake" as a tactic because they're upset these units are selling for less than their MSRP. Fundamentally, this is an attempt by Audeze to price-fix using derogatory tweets, MSRP "adherence", and "minimum advertised price" policies. For context, price fixing is illegal, and these policies are fundamentally anti-competitive. Beyond that, consider that this inventory comes from physical retailers who approached us, asking if they could sell this inventory on Drop because their stores are closed and nobody's coming in for the next two months. Some brands are engaging in buyback schemes to support their retailers through this crisis, but Audeze seems more interested in maintaining margin. Draw your own conclusions about who's being shady, but I'll add for context, Audeze is the only company in the audiophile space who entered into a collaboration with DROP, took the designs we developed, claimed they couldn't commit to a production schedule, and launched the product as their own at a higher MSRP a couple weeks later. Thanks for posting your question, it's an important topic and Audeze's "fake news" approach is confusing for everyone.

WillSo you will be covering the warranty on this if it is not honored by Audeze? Will that be the same as buying directly from audeze or other authorized retailer 3 years for drivers 1 year for everything else?

YuraloverI trust DROP enough to know better, and at least that they will NEVER sell fake shit. DROP will either sell or they won't. I don't think these folks are interested in any kind of BS. Hate the price. Hate the game. Don't hate the player! I trust DROP more than Amazon. There, I said it!

@metal571 is it any more shady than giving the retailers who wound up stuck with luxury goods many are no longer in a secure position to buy no choice at all? These, as Drop have indicated, were sold to them by a retailer that got stuck with them and Audeze would not take the stock back. Kinda gangster in my book for Audeze to give them no choice - Audeze won’t take them back AND the retailer cannot sell through a third party like Drop? It’s fine for Audeze to not honor the warranty, and then it is up to the buyer to decide if the discount on Drop is good enough to take the chance of dealing with Drop’s warranty. Free choice all around. Instead Audeze does everything they can to sew fear, mistrust, and disinformation. Audeze telling the retailer who was stuck with the stock that they are SOL? I have to respectfully disagree with you. Audeze’s position? Not cool. After this it will be a cold day in h-e-double hockey sticks before I buy from Audeze. And I am the kind of buyer they don’t want to piss off - I can actually still buy their stuff if I wanted to. Very soon that may be a rare breed indeed.

treal512possibly the LCD2C, not 100% sure.
adeadcrabCorrect, LCD-2C, was originally going to be called the LCD-2.X They didn't even change the pattern of perforations on the headband, designed to match the tops of our amplifiers.

WillSo anyone, even with a limited common sense, can conclude that because Audeze refused to take this stock back from his reseller, Audeze is partially responsible of the current situation (this stock sold here), hence it would be normal for them to assume warranty for this stock. Yes I know, business doesn't work like this, and greedy business even less. =) Maybe Audeze is too busy improving its drivers failure rate to take care of its resellers. :P
