Would this be an upgrade over an xDuoo TA-20?

Okeergood question; probably not. the biggest difference is the 2x SE which is why there’s 4 tubes in it; power output is very close. this is likely in the “diminishing returns” area if you’re taking that path.

avoidworkHave had mine for 3hr, but I think it's an upgrade over the TA-20. I have JJ tubes in mine, & I think the ATH-BHA100 sounds better. I've only tested ATH-AWAS & Fostex TH-909 so far; no buyers remorse so that's a good sign.

avoidworkThanks for the input, I'm also considering the upgrade path from ta-20. I tried Singxer sa-1 and the musical representation of solid state just isn't comparable in my taste. If you are free, mind if I ask a bit more detail on the difference between ta-20 and ATH-BHA100? I'm mostly unhappy with the bit of noise ta-20 produces, think my Arya is tiny bit too sensitive for it.

RA3173@RA3173 it's probably the tubes; I found the TA-20 is not great for tube rolling. My personal favorite tubes do not work well at all, and produce a lot noise. I've tried 3 sets/brands, and only 1 worked; the last & most expensive picked up noise from my skin touching the chassis. When you find something that works, it's great. I've clocked maybe 6hr on the AT-BHA100, but it does have an audibly different soundstage; slightly more spacious I'd say, and it adds something to the sound of a Topping D90. At 4x the price retail, I really can't say it's "worth" the upgrade ... but I doubt you wouldn't enjoy it as much as I am. I picked it up out of curiousity, and it's probably going to be my primary amp for a while. The heat output is like the TA-20, which is much lower than I assumed it'd be.
