PobloPomodoroYes it will work. You wont get the full benefit of the MQA decoding because Apple Music formats are AAC or ALAC, but you will get an improvement in audio quality.
It is essentially a remaster, with embellishments. So,, not better or worse, but a new interpretation, an option. You can also just play around eq’ing, but it seems that MQA is an adaptive algorithm, so tough to duplicate. Some MQA I have sampled sound quite nice, some overdone… if some hardware has it built-in great, if not, great too.
I have an Advanced Audio DAC for iPhone with passthrough charging, and while it is nice in a pinch, there is a noticeable noise while listening on IEMs. Depending on the charging source it can be a buzz, hum, or hiss. That said, battery hasn't been a significant issue for me since I had an iPhone 5 (all plus models since).
Looks like a tight fit to the body of the phone, I would guess that the only way it would work with an Otterbox is with an extension cable or something.
