How is this connected? Bluetooth? Does the mic and speakers need to be ran through the device?

You can see from the product photos and descriptions, it's a USB-C controller device that uses the special software to change audio levels *within Windows* (sadly, no Mac support) for recognised devices or applications. Any questions about routing audio through it are meaningless as it's not doing any routing. It is a good-looking hardware interface to four programmable channels of the sort of functionality that the Sound & Volume mixer built into Windows offers.

adh1003Thanks for the reply. Sadly, I use a mac at work but this would be useful to control general volume, music, mic etc throughout the day.

Sean_BigsIf you don't mind paying (not very much tho) for a software solution, I find Rogue Amoeba's SoundSource to be really good personally. It's basically the software version of this exact device, written native for macOS with a decent UI and a solid "native" feel.

adh1003Oh my gosh. I bought some Rogue Amoeba software a few years back and could not remember the name of it. They make really good stuff. Well worth the money. Thank you for reminder me of them!

JK1979Any documentation available so that one could create a similar software for Linux? I guess it's a USB HID device?

I've seen a review elsewhere stating that they had been told this device won't work correctly if you're using a powered USB hub, even if you're using this on a USB port on the mobo. Is this true, or was there some user error there? Very interested, but I use a powered hub, and that sounds like a very odd limitation.

Hi, the Beacn Mix will work with both powered and unpowered USB Hubs. I use a powered hub for my Beacn mix create without issue.

So if I were to use this to control audio volume for discord, an open YouTube tab, Spotify, and a game (R6 siege for example) would it change the volume settings inside the apps themselves or would it just scale it again? If it added another layer of scaling would that mean it would be best to just max everything out and use this to control volumes? Is there a demo of the software anywhere that will allow me to see how it reacts when I open/close tabs and apps, etc?
Hi there! My name is Thomas and I'm the Creator & Community Lead at BEACN. Thanks for the question! So when turning the volume up and down, it corresponds to the Volume slider in the Windows Audio Mixer (to get here, click start and type in sound mixer options). You'll notice that if you turn one of the apps assigned to a BEACN Mix knob up and down it adjusts in that window. In this instance, you are correct in saying it would be best to max everything and use the Mix to control volumes. In terms of seeing the software in action, we have this getting started video to help! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4ZriqCoVJE&pp=ygUJQkVBQ04gTWl4
