PhiloniousmonkThis got me curious, as I keep hearing about Boos, but have never handled one.
Tried looking around...not sure I'm really seeing the much similarity, but more importantly, not seeing anywhere that has any still available...much less the ts1, for an apples to apples comparison. But the places that still list prices were $40-60 higher.
Do you know of a place selling one of those in this price range?
P. S.
I'm seeing them go between $200-250 on the used market. That's a long way off from $160 new
PhiloniousmonkIt’s similar in knife style. Also similar to the Boker plus urban trapper. At least that’s how I look at them. Long skinny, kitchen knife type blade. Either way, Boos blades are small batch so the only thing left at this point is the secondary mkt until another batch is made. The latest the TM1 is in M390 steel, which is superior to S35VN, hence the cost. The older TS1 you noted is in S35VN. The build quality of the boos is felt in hand, material, balance, general aesthetics. It’s fantastic. Most are collectors items so they are like new on the used market...maybe cut paper at best.
PhiloniousmonkI'll have to see if i can handle one some day
I'm curious if you're making a direct comparison, or just speaking to Boos quality in general? Meaning, have you handled any of the Bestech knives in person to compare?
(and don't take this the wrong way, just trying to get a feel for what you're basing your comparison on. I have a few bestech pieces that I think are at a quality level way and their price point)
KavikBestech is doing a fantastic job. The Boos is actually shelled out to WE knives for actual production. They know how to make a knife. I have the WE Zeta and Escheton...check them out. Both Chinese companies pumping out quality...also Reate.
