is this knife manufactured in China or Germany? is the lock bar carbonized or is there an insert? $140 is way too expensive if this is made in China, knowing Bokers poor quality.

anonomousBoker + has had a jump in quality recently. I have the Kihon and this is a superb folder... worth every cent. It has only one pillar at the butt , no stop pins : thumbstuds acts as both stop pins for opened and closed position ... Burnley sure knows how to design a folder...
Is the lock face carburized? Honestly, I don't know : it has no insert tho. I've played with it extensively and the lock hasn't engaged more and it has ZERO lock stick so... it feels like it's carburized/hardened at least.
You know the true special thing about this knife? Its titanium frame is hollowed like crazy... the knife is a feather. The fit and finish is 100% flawless

I have dozens of folders, ranging from 20$ to 400 and I really, really like this one.

MoonStanI'm not willing to gamble with it. I only buy high quality stuff and this doesn't look like it. plus for the price its only vg10 and bokers vg10 is really chippy and soft.
I've been burned too much from bokers.

anonomousPick one. It's "chippy" or it's soft. Can't be both.
Anyways, do whatever the f you want dude, I'm not a Böker employee, I don't care lol.

MoonStanthey have a model like this that's made in Germany, I'm going to get that one instead.
and bokers vg10 knives have been chippy and soft tbo. I know its one or the other but the heat treat is crap on the exskelubers I have. always have to sharpen them and they will constantly chip. at least they are super easy to sharpen tho.

anonomousThis knife costs more than twice as much money and is from different knifemaker. You are comparing apples and oranges :-)

Thomas_czits from boker just made in Germany not China, so quality is almost guaranteed. and I'd rather spend twice the amount for quality then buy junk that boker China is known for. yes they are different knives. I'm not comparing them other then the way they look some what similar in shape and size.
until there are more reviews I'm not willing to gamble with this version which to me is too much money for a bokers China knife based on there quality reputation.
I'm not like everyone else. I buy quality and willing to spend more for it.

anonomousChinese knife makers have hit their stride and are not to be dismissed like that.
If Boker learned their lesson about designing low quality knives, there is no reason to avoid a Chinese Boker.

OmniseedI have lots of Chinese knives. I love them for the most part. I avoid Chinese made bokers, crkt, and Kershaw's because of the ultra low quality and low materials. There are a few knives coming out of boker recently that have been decent. Which is great news for them.
