Product Description
The Bravo Audio SP1 is billed as a Class A tube amp for headphones, but is actually a hybrid unit that delivers warmth, power, and clarity. That’s because the Class D amplifier provides plenty of even-keeled headroom while the included 12AU7 tube buffer brings an organic warmth and body to your audio Read More

Why does the description and title call this a headphone amp? Looks like a speaker amp, no?

I agree. I was just asking myself the same question. The description includes “with speaker pole outputs” so there is definitely provision for speakers. It describes the output as 20 watts per channel, which is a little higher than most headphones would comfortably accept 🥴. There is no mention of a headphone output, so why is it called a headphone amplifier?

ozcrozyet I’ve been listening to my 120w per channel ss amp through headphones for years…I’m so glad you’ve highlighted the errors of my ways.

Rowdy2026Good on you! Do you have a built in headphone output with impedance and output matching your headphones?

Rowdy2026Impedance, it’s just a word. It might describe your way of answering a question, not quite impudence or V/I, but similar.

Probably because its value as an amplifier for speakers is minimal - mostly for folks with speakers that have high sensitivity who are looking for low wattage amps with minimal control and options.
Looseleaf52Yeah, but it has no output port for headphones, the only outputs are the speaker terminals which most people won't be able to use for headphones.

Looseleaf5220W per channel is a LOT of power in a "near field" listening space and there are a LOT of actual class "A" amps pushing 7 watts as a loud speaker AMP even factory CAR audio is often in the 20 to 30 WATT range

My take is that it's a class D chip amp with a class A tube preamp/buffer.

Almost fell for this. This is not a headphone amp! Please put a legitimate description on this unit.
