You heat the water in another pot, pour it through the strainer containing the tea leaf, into the serving pot.

OH that is some fancy stuff. Thank you for the explanation. I would have definitely just thrown this on a grill thinking nothing of it.

That's pretty much how I make cornflakes in the morning--pour them in a bowl, add milk, and then pour all that into a serving bowl. And then whatever I don't finish, I pour down the sink.

Yep. Most teapots aren't supposed to be used for boiling the water, just for steeping and serving.
