An All-Metal Amp with Excellent DAC Audio
Often with a DAC/Amp combo, there’s at least some compromises built-in somewhere—but on the Cayin BTC-2 you’d be hard-pressed to find it. For all its functionality, this is a meticulously matched system with top-notch quality across the board. An ES9018K2M DAC chip provides an impressive 192 kHz, 24 bit decoding, while an onboard Qualcomm QCC 5125 chip delivers Bluetooth connectivity supporting aptX and LDAC codecs. Sending that detail-rich audio out is the dual 280 mW balanced amp output that’s plenty to drive your high-end monitor or bookshelf speakers—courtesy of the RT6863 amp module. The Cayin looks pretty great too, thanks to its super-minimal, all-metal design that’ll feel just at home in a retro or a modern setup. It also comes equipped with several inputs and outputs, including stereo RCA line ins and outs, plus an RCA-connected SPIDF dual in/out port. Plus, it ships with a Bluetooth antenna to ensure that the wireless transmission is as rock-solid as the look of this sleek desktop box.
