I have this knife. It's permanently placed in my "going hiking" jacket, and has taken a ridiculous amount of abuse without issue. Highly recommended. As strong as most fixed blades and easy to maintain.
However, note that this is not a "gentleman's folder". If you clip it to a pocket, it will eat that pocket due to the strong clip and aggressive pattern on the handle. Also, if you have soft skin and use it a lot without gloves, there will be blisters. Not sure about the MD price, it seems high, but I haven't checked other sites lately.
YogaBearNot to be a downer, but these appear to be the new S35VN models, not the CTS-XHP models of which the reputation was built. I doubt most people will see a significant performance difference, but S35VN is NOT the same steel.
YogaBearI can second this. I got this as a birthday request 2 or 3 years ago (it was $50 on Amazon at the time), and it's an epic knife. Holds an edge, is virtually indestructible, if you keep it clean it's smooth as silk, the grip is perfectly shaped and the texture and material make it really hard for your hand to slip, even when wet. Do be warned, it comes hair shaving sharp...
