Would I be correct in assuming that the NATO version would work better with a bigger, chunkier watch, the ZULU with a not quite as substantial a watch, and neither with a dainty, thin watch like a Nomos?
I may need to buy a relatively inexepensive watch to use these on. Any suggestions from the peanut gallery? Maybe something beefy and masculine? But not a diver.

CloacaThe 1 piece will give you a shorter strap and put 1 piece of leather between the watch and your wrist vs 2 with the non 1 piece version. We think the 1 piece looks cleaner overall and you don't usually have the folded back piece of leather at the end of the strap which adds bulk as well. We would agree overall that the 1 piece looks better on smaller watches, but both styles look great on just about every watch.

CloacaLike DaLuca wrote, the NATO strap will make a chunky watch ride even taller due to having two pieces of leather under the watchhead. You'd be better served with the Zulu version.

JakeRoberts100%. Go Zulu unless you are confident in the 2 layers of leather plus watch height.
