I messed up and must have added this to my cart and when I ordered some keyboard stuff paid for this too. I am not too annoyed but... What is 4.4mm? My headphones are either 3.5 or 6.3... What do I do with this thing? 2.5mm is such an annoying connector size and 4.4mm I have never even heard of. I am just screwed?

ZibobIt's a balanced connector you really don't need to worry about it unless you have balanced cables for your headphones so maybe this is your introduction into the audio cult or hopefully not... just don't your wallet is already destroyed enough from being into mechanical kbds

TobbeNewYeah I will end up doing this until I get a set of headphones for it as I could really use some anyway, eventually.

TobbeNewyou can actually break it with 3.5mm adapter. if you can't use 2.5mm/4.4mm you'd best return it honestly

TobbeNewmaybe not right away but it's not recommended to go 2.5/4.4 to 3.5mm since you are short-circuiting half of the output, a very solid device might handle that but most will break eventually or even right away :)

verifonixAre you sure about this? DD also sell adaptors that do exactly that. It would seem of to sell a product that will break another of your own products. The DJ30A.

Zibobhttps://www.ddhifi.com/productinfo/142361.html it says specifically it does not short circuit any connections (which is usually the case) so this adapter should work fine. since it's no longer balanced you lose half the output + are no longer protected from ground loops, though. But nice find.

verifonixCan you confirm -- have you tried that adapter with the ddHiFi TC44B? I read what they say about it on their page, and it sounds like it will work, but I see so many negative comments about this (balanced to unbalanced adapters) Just bought the DAC, and it just arrived, and I've found that I need this adapter... or I can't use my DAC without new headphones. Some people were commenting that an adapter would work, but I dont want to harm the amp and then have ddHiFi stick me with it... this is very frustrating.

Milkman76I have not bought the adaptor yet as I have no real need for this DAC, I bought it by accident. Though I should get the adaptor and test it really. I will try do that soon but don't holdnyour breath. The ddHiFi adaptor should work fine, though like your worries in would not buy any cheaper ones just in case, or without making sure they built properly to not damage the DAC.

ZibobThat adapter is en route to my home now. It should arrive in a week or so, and then I'll test it with the dac/amp and reply here.

ZibobSo I received the ddHiFi 4.4mm to 3.5mm unbalanced adapter, connected it to the TC44B, and it works great with my Klipsch x11i earbuds, so far. I note: when I use the TC44B with the adapter to playback lower quality streams, it stays room temp, but when I use it to playback FLAC and higher quality streams, it warms up a bit. I would not describe it as TOO warm, but it warms to the touch. So far so good with the adapter, though.
