I get that Massdrop can't control whether the vendor gets stuff to them in a timely manner. (I also think this particular drop's delay time is outrageous and Massdrop should consider dropping the vendor, but that is another discussion.
However, Massdrop can control whether they provide timely updates and whether they provide updates when they say they will. On that count, Massdrop has been abysmal with this drop. If you say you will provide an update, provide an update, even if you have no new information (that's what you reported anyway with the last update). If you have to, put a reminder on your calendar so you remember to provide an update when you say you will.
