I purchased my speakers when they were full price, and though now they are over one third cheaper, I'm not going to complain. I do wish these had more features (*cough* volume control and an actual power button), but they perform fairly well for what they are. The volume dial on my amp (Schiit Fulla) apparently adjusts them exponentially, so these get very loud while under 50%, maybe too much so. I have yet to try these to replace built-in TV speakers, but they seem like they can provide an immersive experience with its loudness and full bass without needing a subwoofer. At the current reduced price, I think they are just fine.
And yes, they do get hot when on the main connection mode, but if you switch to the headphones passthrough mode, you can stop the heat from accumulating. Admittedly, I never tried using the Bluetooth mode, so I have no insight on the wireless performance.
Being an early pre-order at a "reduced" price for it to be on sale for ever less shortly thereafter, with the extended cable we also had to buy, not cool at all. Completely slights your early backers. To make it worse, the speakers are complete trash. Sound quality is no better than a $10 pair of knock off earbuds on max volume to act as speakers. Gets obtusely hot, massive delay on the bluetooth configuration, absolute trash bass, the list goes on. Avoid this garbage.
There is NO power switch, they are always on when plugged in
The controls/ports are ALL located on the back of the Right channel speaker
There is NO volume control on the speakers themselves
The included cables are kind of short, I have 2x 32 inch Monitors on my desk and any wider the proprietary cable would not be long enough
Other than that they sound amazing, they don't clip too often, and it's nice that you can rotate them 90 degrees to fit under monitors like I have them on my setup. The one front switch on the right speaker is easy to switch between inputs, white for Aux, blue for Bluetooth, simple enough.
P.S. I wish that at least 1 pair of Black grille covers was included with the speakers themselves. Although I understand why they sell them in different colors to appeal to people who want the colors to match with their setups.
Overall it is a descent speakers for office. Not a reference speaker for sure. The power plug on the right speaker gets very hot after couple hours. Beware.
These speakers hiss when anything is connected to the 3.5mm port. It doesn't matter if the other end is connected to a DAC or nothing at all. The bluetooth has a range of inches which is shorter than any cable so it has no reason to exist. The left speaker buzzes at specific frequencies if the mount is not screwed in at exactly the right pressure. The sound is fine if you're ok paying $75 to have supposed monitors add more noise to your audio system.
At $130 (I think I paid closer to $200 when you factor in the extension cable, metal grill, shipping, tax, etc), you can do much better if you spend a little more money. Think $200 to $250 for decent speakers. $500 for good ones.
The problem with these speakers is as follows:
Claim audiophile quality, not even close
It looks nice in photos but looks like cheap black plastic and is very lightweight
Sound is comparable to built-in monitor speakers.
Bottom line:
They now cost $80, but it looks like they should cost $20, and it sounds like they cost $40.
All of these numbers are not very conducive to a good speaker setup.
Can someone at drop let me know if this is the reversion? I had went in watching badseed tech and zeos. I knew these were premium PC speakers, but after reading the reviews I can't say I have had any negative experiences with mine. Not to discount anyone's problems. I so far love Mine, they are so loud in clear at low volumes. They are actually really loud. I haven't left my windows volume past 22%.
I was looking very specifically for speakers like these, I can play music at my desk at a comfortable volume, but they don't project very far. I can literally have someone ten feet away, and I'm listening at a nice volume and when they swing by my desk they have no idea i was listening to music. I'm not listening at loud volumes, they are desk monitors at work, and they are excellent at that task, bluetooth has been fine on my unit, but i have only used them that way a couple of times. clarity is good, nice definition, but obviously they are somewhat lacking in bass.
My big concern though is that the primary speaker gets hot as hell. I'm super happy with them right now, but I don't have high confidence in the prospect of a long life for them.
