While I appreciate the more natural light of the Nichia LED I usually use the CREE for its higher-output lighting. Both are housed in the same high-quality brass, which feels sturdy and great in one's hand. I wish the switch would go from off to each light level and then off again rather than off between each level, but perhaps that's an intentional design.

NeilPeartA lot of that extra lumen from CREE emitters come from the bluer spectrum, which is what contributes to the harsh and low contrast look of whiter light. I’ve come to appreciate a lower lumen, yellower light that is easier on my eyes and also gives me more accurate and vivid color rendition that a high CRI emitter provides.

MassDThanks for the feedback, MassD - I will give the Nichia some more time and see if I can acclimate myself to its more natural illumination.
