I wonder if Massdrop ever plans on issuing a statement on the super high double tap key defect rate on these things. Gonna continue to make this post so it shows up at the top. BUYER BEWARE.

PigmonkeYYeah they should address this issue. Although I want to get more info about the switches and the situation from those who have this issue occurring. Just a couple seconds ago my z key was doing it non stop but I pulled the switch out and blew on the connectors a bit and wiped them with a dry cloth and it's working fine now. I have Halo Trues. I was just wondering if this happens across the whole keyboard for those who have this issue or if it only affects certain keys. I'm considering buying gateron browns as I do not like the feel of the Halo trues they are too tough and barely feel the click. Maybe it's the switches that are the issues so I'm hoping this would fix it.

SebyUnless the sockets are really badly made, i can't see that happening from junk falling in there. Maybe there's some kind of problem with micro arcing down in there.

PigmonkeYYea I don't see it being possible that there is any junk or something getting in there besides a possibility of dust but even then it's a low chance of dust getting in there. I'm not too sure what the issue is but I just know that for the 2 keys I've noticed doing it often I pulled the switch out and then cleaned it off a bit then put it back in and haven't noticed it since. Next time I notice it on a key I'll pull the switch out and swap it with another without cleaning and see if the issue persists with the same key or with the new one or none at all.

SebyI've been able to fix the problem for a little while seemingly by just changing the usb port the keyboard is plugged into. It's all very strange.

PigmonkeYYeah bottom line is that the issue shouldn't even be happening in the first place. I mean we paid a large sum of money for a "premium" keyboard so everything about it should be premium, but instead we get a premium aesthetic keyboard but with bad support and a bad mechanical aspect.

SebyThis has been my daily driver for the past 6 months in the office and gaming. But the issue is so unbearable now and i cannot use it anymore for coding. For now, i switch back to my good old Rapid-i. Im also considering to get those gateron browns. I do like the feel of the Halo Clears (in my case), but this issue is just so disappointing.

ivandatuIm actually interested to try your solution of pulling and cleaning the switch and socket. Unfortunately in my case, they are all over the place.

ivandatuYeah for me I while I'm coding I will notice once in a while it will put in some extra key so it's either double click issue or by accident I clicked it again or clicked another key. Try to open up a note pad and click one of the keys you know has the issue then click space after it and spam that for a bit, this will show you how many times it double clicks. Then try to pull the switch and just blow on the connector and socket a little then put it back and try it again.

SebyIn my case, im 100% sure its a switch double tap issue. it happens alot with a, c, l, p, o, u, t, spacebar and arrow keys. I will try that cleaning solution oncce it got home and let you know..

ivandatuAlright sounds good, I'm interested in knowing if that works. The way I clean it is either just simply blowing on the connectors and socket, using a dry cloth to wipe it down or using a pencil eraser to clean the connectors. Make sure your keyboard is OFF / UNPLUGGED though when doing this.

SebyIf you're looking for an inexpensive switch that has good tactility, try out Outemu Skies or Outemu Ice!

SebyYou'd think a company that managed 45 million in VC funding wouldn't still be such a garbage factory. I guess you live and learn. If cleaning the switches solves the issue, they have micro-arcing in the sockets, and the whole thing is badly made from the get go. Should never have got out of QA that way. Of course, everyone knows that the customer is QA for "massdrop made" products. This keyboard has been out for how many months, and they're still producing them knowing that there's a defect?

SebySo, i just did the cleaning thing on those switch with issues. After a whole day of coding using the keyboard, I can tell that cleaning did minimized the issue. Some switch did not have the issue anymore, but there are a few with issue still. I will try to swap those with the F keys and the top right keys since i dont usually use those frequently. Lets see tomorrow how things goes.

ivandatuThat's great to hear that it fixed some of them up. Yeah let me know how that goes it will help figure out is the issue is with the switches or the board.

JayGeeWentworthI got the Halo Clears. Actually, I had enough of it. It's in the point of almost unusable because of this double tap issue. I pull the trigger and bought some Gateron Browns. Im hoping that its just the switches and not the board itself. It will arrive this weekend. Lets see how that goes.

ivandatuSeems like everyone with this issue has the halo switches. I got the box whites I really hope I don't get that issue.

SebyThe gateron browns that i ordered arrived this past weekend. And i have them installed for 5 days already. I've been using it again as my daily driver for work and gaming to test the situation. And so far, im no longer getting that double tapping issue. I guess i'll give it a few more weeks before i conclude that its an issue with the switches only. As for the gateron feel. They are terrible to type in. They feel so rough. They are tactile but they feel so light like almost red switch. Good thing that i got them cheap from china. Once im confident to say that this is not a PCB issue, I will change these switches again.

ivandatuTry the KBDFans T1 switch for high quality tactile switch that relatively affordable

ivandatuKeep us updated, it's great to hear that it's already showing better results. Is also noticed that sometimes when I type it will put the letter before the other so let's say I'm typing "test" sometimes it will put "tets" which may just be an issue on my side but it could also be an issue with the switches or pcb as it happens a couple times a day when I do a lot of typing.

SebyIts been almost 2 weeks already since i replaced them. I've been using it again regularly and not getting any double tap issue so far. I guess that is a good sign. Im still getting used to the gateron feel tho.
