Drop Mech Keys Meetup Recap - Thanks for Visiting!
As you may have seen, we just hosted our first meetup in quite a while here at Drop HQ (Corsair HQ, but they seem to like us enough :) )! It was a blast to get to meet so many enthusiasts local to the bay area—it had been 10 years since I was last hanging out with keyboard nerds in the bay, at KeyCon 2014. We had a great time hosting everyone at the offices, checking out all the very nice boards y'all brought, and sharing some of our own projects/spaces! I knew it would be fun to host in the Game Room when I first saw it in person, but seeing it come to fruition was still so cool. Alright, I'll stop blabbering on now. xD Picture time! (Oh, real quick - there will be more of these! Stay tuned for more info and to catch the next one!)

We have an update on the production status of the Massdrop x MiTo GMK Laser Custom Keycap Set. MiTo has received the latest samples of the alpha colors and the color scheme is not matching what he envisioned. We wanted to give everyone a heads up that this delay in color confirmation may cause a delay in our estimated ship date.
MiTo knows there are very high expectations for the Laser set, and he wants to make sure the colors are up to the standards of the community. Because of this, MiTo (located in Brazil) is on his way to Germany to confirm the alpha colors in person. New techniques and color matching procedures are taking place right now, in order to ensure an exact match to his vision and the product designed.
Once the finalized colors are up to the standards we are all used to, MiTo will go ahead and authorize manufacturing.
We’ll provide an update in late April with the latest information.
Not sure if it is my monitor or is it just me but I think the first photo looks good, at least the best of the bunch. The purple contrast with the alpha and modifier, with the hot pink accent. Not trying to say which is the "right" colour, just my opinion.
Yes, as Yanbo clearly said the only color off is the alphas.
> Or was the problem that before the GB starts Mito received a set of correct samples and now GMK is producing another samples that did not match the original samples pallet?
Not the case, don't even know how you came up with this read.
> Not sure if it is my monitor or is it just me but I think the first photo looks good, at least the best of the bunch.
Yup, however in real life the alphas are off and we will perfect it.
I came up with that conclusion because I thought that you already have at hand a "correct" colour samples because of the comment on the colour chip for the artisan which I assumed was also made by GMK.
Well... This was not exactly the focus of the point I am trying to bring. It was that there needs to be a caption on the photo if not I am interpreting that the first photo was the initial samples, the correct samples(the one you sent to artisan), and the others are the samples you are getting now which does not match the "original" samples(the first photo).
And so far I do indeed, for all colors but alphas.
> I am interpreting that the first photo was the initial samples, the correct samples(the one you sent to artisan), and the others are the samples you are getting now which does not match the "original" samples(the first photo).
I understand your interpretation but it's incorrect. The photos aren't presented in any particular order, it doesn't make sense to label them either because these pics are just arrangements to display that we have multiple samples on hand and I'm not happy with the alphas in particular.
As for your concern regarding artisans, I didn't send wrong/unconfirmed colors to partners at any given moment. We don't even have alpha colored artisans to begin with and as far as I know each one of the artists matched colors to mods and accents to the best of their respective abilities. Hope you understand!
ALPHAS - PENDING, nobody ever received those MODS - CONFIRMED, even sent some to partners ACCENTS - CONFIRMED, even sent some to partners
Regardless of the confusion, it's clear that being there in person will allow a much quicker feedback loop in selecting the right colors to achieve the vision. Thanks MiTO for making certain that you're delivering on the vision you aimed for and sold to us.
