$200 for a keyboard? You do know Ducky, a very well known brand sells their keyboards for a cheaper price. I really want to know who are the types of people buying a $200 keyboard.

pRogzDucky keyboards do not have hotswap sockets, and are not made out of aluminum.

firewormYes you are right, but I really wanna know what people are switching their switches. I never heard someone say... Wow man I really need to switch to my blues for this movie ... You know? Like sounds like a cool idea but really bro... Who is switching their switches?

pRogzI switch mine like every month or two; when some new switch is released or when I want to try some weird frankenswitch. Or want to give linears one last try... Or see how the new outemu silents are...

firewormNot sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but if you aren't you like literally the 1% of people who swap their switches every month. I've own a ducky for 3 years and have never though of switching the switches let alone the keycaps.

pRogzYou obviously have not used mechanical keyboards for long enough. I used a Filco for many years before the switches started to develop chattering. Usually for a good quality mechanical keyboard, the switches die first. If you can't change the switches, you have to throw the whole keyboard away. If you can change the switch - given how cheap switches are - you basically extend the lifespan of the keyboard by many more years.

RageXLike I said, 3 years so far. If my current keyboard lasts another 2 years, I'll be more than happy with this investment, considering how stuff nowadays don't even last that long. I understand what you mean by extending the lifespan of the keyboard when it comes with the function to change switches, but I'm pretty sure people that actually buy these switches are more to the keyboard enthusiast community, and rarely for those actually looking to fix broken switches. Edit: Apparently he wasn't replying to me. My bad

RieffelYa I was replying to pRogz, since he mentioned Duckys being cheaper, and I was a Filco user - higher end than Duckys. I will pay more for a keyboard that will last substantially longer. You can't change the switch, if you get a bad switch after warranty, you throw the keyboard away. Switches are dirt cheap.

Rieffel/shrug I dunno. I like the flexibility because there is no 'perfect switch' and folks like Zeal, NovelKeys, and Kaihua are coming out with new switches every 6 months. Some folks don't care about that though. I'm just pointing out the features on the board that 'could' drive up the cost. :P GMMK has hotswap, and is under $100.

firewormfunny because even if this one has an aluminium, it's lighter than the shine. Hotswappable doesn't mean high quality because many cheap keyboard have this feature. Do I have to speak about the meh stabilisers?

firewormI use the GMMK right now as well! Hope it lasts a long time, but given the price, I'm not too sure.

pRogzI have three ducky’s and a Logitech g pro but I will still buy 200 dollar keyboards if I like it. That isn’t your problem.
