This looks similar to their Precision Series, making the MSRP not $270, but around $120, according to their website. Are these the same knives with a different name, or is this set actually a $270 set?

dontreallycare2The MSRP is mostly always highly exaggerated on Massdrop, unfortunately... :\

HuyoI'm not sure about that...They don't look similar at all. different handle design. Same company, but no indication that they are worth the same.

dontreallycare2You're right, I actually can't find a 7 ceramic chef's knife on their site anywhere. Bizarre.

dontreallycare2This is a new ceramic set that is not available on the EoB site yet. The MSRP of $270 is correct and is set by the manufacturer.

kstokleyHmm..their website says the Primal set was launched this time last year, but the only other mentions of it online are from spammy affiliate websites and fake review blogs.
Maybe it hasn't been released and the manufacturer's website is incorrect, but my spidey-sense is tingling. Massdrop has made me suspicious of real MSRPs recently...

igbyPlease cite valid examples because I've only encountered a small number of discrepancies and Massdrop has ALWAYS corrected those. 999/1000 posts end up like this one (not validating part or SKU when comparing price) or the poster simply fails to understand what MSRP is and is erroneously claiming the real MSRP is a "fake" and somehow "fraud". All of the above scenarios are pretty annoying to the rest of us who just want to talk about the product. Don't like the price?... buy it somewhere else but stop cluttering the discussions with like-kind posts.

ElectronicVicesI mean, there's nothing wrong with additional discussions. You don't have to load rest of the comment chain and read all of them if you don't want to. And if you excluded all the comments about this, there would only be like 6 other comments.
Not to mention, you're also replying to comments 41 weeks old.

gumballsIf the post that gets asserted as fact actually checks out I'm wholeheartedly good with it. I am also completely good with opinions, as long as they are presented as such. What bothers me is the "Gotcha" mentality that's been growing on here over the last 18 months. It was a problem more than 41 weeks ago and it's still a problem now. So yeah... I necro'd the shit out of this thread. Of all the critical and incidental things one should consider when making a purchasing decision MSRP's value is non-existent. It's a ghost figure slapped on ad copy by the manufacturer to slot their product in a perceived "class" within a segment. The sweetly ironic thing is that many manufacturers that sell direct to consumers, as well as through other channel s, don't sell at their OWN stated MSRP.
