These are my favorite headphones, I have the version with removable cables - https://drop.com/buy/64090. My other headphones are: AKG K7XX FOSTEX TH-X00 Ebony Focal Elex Sennheiser 58X Dekoni Blue Fostex 1More Triples E-MU Purplehearts Thinksound ON2 (R.I.P. Thinksound) Meze 99 Noir Sennheiser 599, 600, 650, 700 Hifiman HE400S Phillips Fidelio M1 MKII Sony MDR 7520 Sony MDR 7506 JVC HA-SZ2000 (most bass-y bass cans I have, but requires eq. Imagine sticking your head into a subwoofer box - they are just silly, I laughed when I first heard these through my Schiit amp) Audio Technica ATH-AD900X Audio Technica ATH-M50x Koss Porta Pros! I'm not saying the EMUs are the best, but they are the ones I'd take if I were trapped on a deserted island, not including IEMs (then I'd take K10s). I'm not good enough to review these, but I'll say that they are bass-centric, like bass cans for audiophiles. They are close to Fostex TH-XOO Ebonies, but they sound slightly better and are more comfortable to me. I highly recommend these, if you think the sound signature suits you. p.s., I keep seeing people say these are closed back, they are semi-closed. They have some gaps where the sound leaks and this is an intentional part of the design.

steedamikeYeah I'm looking at these for an "upgrade" from my purple heart . I love them but I am not a bass head so I can lose a bit of bass in favor of mids. These seem to have that. I think I just love that fostex driver. I've tried so many head phones and none of them resonate with me like that purple hearts. If the E-Mu teaks don't do it I've decided the purple hearts will be what I stick with for forever.
HuntersknollI highly recommend the Sivga SV003 and SV006. They do need after-market pads, such as the Brainwavz Micro Suede. Let me know if you want to know more.

HuntersknollI have similar experience except I have Denon AH-D2000, and I tried so many headphones to upgrade but always come back to this at the end. In the end I realize sound signature is more important than simply higher resolution.
