PaystyleWelcome to the new Massdrop. Don't show full photos if you have something to hide. Don't put the country of origin if you want to deceive customers into thinking it came from another country (like "great knives in the Japanese tradition" that are made in China.)
Yep.
SantiagoDracoDamned if you didn't nail it on the head... btw why is everything from China now on here? We used to get cool handmade low production number neat stuff iirc. Now we have rothco weknifeyou everything. Even the CCCP Russian crap watches are coming from China now. Can we get some Benchmade stuff or maybe a Microtech drop ffs a real knife made of the actual steel they claim? And I would appreciate the Seikos if they weren't all the Chinese 5 serieseses.
But now days I just use Massdrop to see what to put in my cart on Amazon because none of the Chinese stuff is even a good deal.
Edit: To be clear MD customer support has been awesome to me but the quality of drops is what I am complaining about. QQ etc.
smallbitFor the same reason Amazon has turned into the new Chinese Ebay, greed. The principles and mission the companies started with have fallen victim to the money monster. Massdrop isn't as bad as Amazon, for sure, but the trend isn't good.
If Massdrop cared about the integrity of their relationship with their customers they'd:
1. Always state the country of origin up front in the product information.
2. Show pictures of the product in use and with scale.
3. Avoid selling Chinese (or other) knockoffs and validate the quality of the products they sell before offering them.
I think Massdrop tries to some extent but certainly there's a trend of bringing in products just for the money and not because the product is something "Massdrop" customers would expect from MD.
