look if you are into this hobby…you’ll lube once and say ok I get it…then you realize you have to do it 60 more times for a 60% keyboard (61 keys), it gets old real quick.
however if you like linears, if you like thock, and your time is with more than the price difference of just buying some Gateron milky yellows and having to lube and film them.
get these switches…they are fantastic right out of the box.
Not the Fastest shipping, But worth the wait. Packaging was really good, much better than some other places where they are sent in baggies. And great Switches overall- can’t go wrong.
I love these switches. Factory lubing was okay and seemed pretty consistent but I opted to clean them and lube them myself. While factory lubing sounded great, definitely DIY lubing makes these shine. Doing your own lube lowers the thock to a deeper/fuller sound and makes typing feel buttery smooth.
My momoka frog v1s are failing at too significant a rate, so I decided to look into upgrading.
To this end, I purchased both these oil kings (switch of the year, in some circles) and the moondrop linears currently here on Drop. I have DKC and a $5 credit, so I was able to score each 35-pack for about $16. At that price, they're both no-brainers.
However, these oil kings feel a bit pillowy and like memory foam. If you've used the Aqua Kings, the sensation is quite similar. You won't get much RGB through these. Sound is quality, though.
I was looking for a slightly less resilient switch, so ultimately the Moondrops won out. However, these are 5-star switches for someone looking for this type.
I really enjoy these on my new build. They're definitely an upgrade from the mx blacks, and I enjoy the different feel (slicker?) vs the KS3 Pros (also nice).
