A collaboration between EVE and Gateron, the Robin custom mechanical switches are a linear treat to type on. Available in 62- and 67-gram weights, these switches take their name—and colorway—from the smooth teal tones of a robin’s egg Read More
this product caught my eye with the amazing colors. I also love the sound after lubing, before lubing a bit scratchy but that's ok I just lubed them up.
I hurt my hands from lubing 110 of these bad boys. While a very pretty set of switches with their colors, the Gateron Milky Yellows give you more bang for your buck. I chose this set of switches to compliment my PBT Islander set.
As for quality, I had a couple of concerns out of the box. A few more pins were bent than I anticipated, but that could just be shipping. The switches were scratchier than I liked out of the box and there was a little bit of spring ping. Nothing that Krytox can't fix.
Once I got them into my TKC1800, they sounded... decent. After tape modding my PCB, life was good once more. I'm three days into using these switches, and I think they're starting to sound a lot better as the lube is spreading around.
I lubed and filmed these switches once with plastic films and 205g0 on everything including the spring. It just was not to my expectations for the lingest times until I finally felt like tackling them again. This time I used Deskeys films, 205g0 on the stem and leaf, and 105 for the springs and theyre So much better than my first time. Granted I’ve come a long way from when I first started so that helped as well. The tolerances and wobble has gone down drastically, and the sound is much more balanced overall. There’s no unwanted sounds from the soring or leaf anymore. It’s not the best switch out there, but it’s good and it does need to be modded.
