Good design, eh materials, okay grinder, great value
I have liked using this grinder. It is a real upgrade form the basic hario burr grinder I had. The drive shaft is stabilized which is good, and I like the grind adjustment (although doesn't offer very fine control of the grind size). The grind catch is a little small. I think for the price it is fantastic, but it doesn't compete with the consistency of higher end steel burr hand grinders. Perhaps it is unfair to compare. For 90% of people, if your grinding you beans, bravo and this piece will do just fine.

TardoAs far as materials it's mostly plastic, with a ceramic Burr. Stainless steel is only a jacket on the outside. As far as stability, its okay. Its much better then on my basic hario grinder, but it isnt going to match the really high end grinders with stability (LIDO etc.). But it costs far less.

TardoI'll start by saying that I don't make espresso at home. But I do know some about making it. I would say you could maybe use this grinder, but I wouldn't recommend it for 2 reasons. 1 you can't get the level of grind uniformity you need for espresso and 2 the grind adjustment while easy to use and fine for pour over, doesn't offer the fine enough control over the gride size. In other words the steps between grind setting are too large for espresso.

TardoIf your really looking for an espresso grinder, than it's gunna be tough to find at this price point. I think this is a great value for the money. I myself wish I had the budget for a lido 3 or something, but I don't. So I have this and I am happy overall. If money is no object for you, you can do better. If things are tight (like myself) then it is worth what they are asking for.
