So, long story short. These are a pass... Get the 7Hz Timeless instead. Those are arguably better in just about every meaningful regard. Better luck next time GP!
QwervyAs far as the sound goes, I can't really think of anything the GL 12 does better than the Timeless:
Lackluster bass response; practically nonexistent infrasonics
Muted midrange response; very receded vocals
Treble is OK, but sounds a little too harsh in some areas
Very closed sounding, despite being open backed; More semi-closed than fully open backed IMO
As for everything else: they're comfortable, look pretty, and come with a nice cable, but that's about it.
QwervyBetween the P1 and the PP, the GL 12's are right in the middle between wishing you had more bass like the PP, or more detail like the P1. Not a fun place to be really.
QwervyI certainly think the Timeless is heads and shoulders better than the GL 12. As for the P1 and PP, the Timeless is like the love-child between those two, and seems to have inherited the best qualities of both.
Jade82The timeless look so uncomfortable tho! I wanted to get them months ago when reviews were popping up but that cylinder shape had me running for the hills! How do they feel?
Mastaboog749They're actually way more comfortable than they seem. The circular design is just on the face and is very thin. Behind that, it's shaped like a pretty typical IEM and sits very comfortably in my ears.
My initial impressions:
More bass than P1, but not quite as much subsonics as PMV PP
Treble is laid back compared to the P1, but brighter than the PMV PP
Very comfortable to wear
Wooden box is nice but impractical
4.4mm pentaconn cable is good, but plugs are fingerprint magnets; includes 3.5mm adapter/dongle
Would love to see how these compare against a pair of Etymotic ER-4xr. Though i love the ety's, i'll buy anything that can match 95% of their clarity/detail with a larger low end.
