At this point I've given up checking here at all. I turned off all notifications and I don't even want a notification of when they ship. I just want these to show up at my door in perfect condition.
I'm avoiding all SP buys after this...

radio_killahI can't really tell who dropped the ball on this one... On one side, 99% of my keys are done and sitting in NJ and MD won't ship them. On the other side, SP still hasn't shipped the RGB Mods. Not sure who to be frustrated with at this point, so I'm doing the same... Just gonna stop checking and hope my shit's not fucked.

MaNiFeXYup -- I am on MD hiatus at least until I get my caps. That MD didn't ship what they have given the delay is so long is frustrating--a couple of days is one thing but weeks and months are quite another. Throwing us a bone and shipping the parts of the order that are in would have been the right thing to do, but the few bucks in shipping are apparently worth the potential lost good will.
kbdobsessedI can't agree enough with this. Ship out what is there! We have long passed the window of acceptable delay in regards to waiting on the RBG mods as justification on not shipping what is there. Just ship my fully usable set and send the rest when it comes in!

MaNiFeXEh, you know, unexpected delays are kind of the norm for both SP and Massdrop. My bet is that a little bit of the blame lies on both parties.
Massdrop made the mistake of assuming that SP's original ship date applied to an unlimited number of keycaps, and then had to scramble at the nth hour once they realized they'd far surpassed the order size SP had been expecting when they gave their original estimate. SP probably ran into a production error in making the RGB modifiers and had to resupply before making the rest of the batch. Since that would extend the shipping deadline, they probably approached Massdrop to let them know about the delay, and Massdrop opted to go for this split shipping schedule in order to at meet their original shipping deadline for at least some of the users in this drop.
Either way, both companies have proven themselves to be more than willing to make up for their mistakes in my eyes. Looking over my past Massdrop orders, I've had notable quality or delay issues with 2 of 22 completed drops, but in both cases I feel that Massdrop made a fair effort to compensate for the issue at hand. Likewise, when I ordered the Galaxy Class set from SP, they ensured that all involved in the group buy were aware of the (rather egregious) delays that occurred due to their difficulty in sourcing some kind of coloring paper. This kind of responsiveness was seen again when SP put a rush order on remaking a small novelty key set that they'd accidentally moulded for row three instead of row one, and then shipped the recreated keys free of charge to everyone who had received keys for the wrong row.
At the end of the day it isn't like these keys are a time-critical product. Whether they arrive this week or next, I'll still have a board to put them on.
Although Massdrop's tendency to meet update deadlines at the last minute is a little tiring. (All eyes on you @HassanS -- would love to see that promised 12/10 update for my AKG K7XX and Amber Rix Gaming Dice orders.)
IacoizumiI do not fault anyone on the delays. I also agree that in my experience MD was very quick to respond to issues I encountered. My complaint is simply that the completely functional part of my order has been sitting, waiting on something with a still to be determined end date. I think either we should have a firm date when to expect everything, or they should ship what they have.
Maybe they will update with some good information soon.

InanisThat's exactly what I'm hoping... I mean, I have 4 sets waiting on 3 keycaps...
IacoizumiYou say that MD compensated you for the quality/ time delay on some other drops? In what way? By just sending you the product you ordered and saying sorry or by actually compensating you? I was on the small magic flight grinder drop and it took an extra month (nothing compared to this wait, obviously...) but all they did was say sorry. An apology doesn't really make me ever want to order from massdrop again. Last time was one of those "Well, they weren't expecting such a big turnout!" kinds of things but this is crazy. The fact that they wont send the keys without the whole order after how long its been is also maddening. I don't need RGB keys to enjoy this set so, like MaNiFeX said, please just ship me the bulk of my order and send the four remaining keys to me when they get in. I hope that this 12/11 update is going to have good news but at this point i'm not holding my breath.

inspectordetectorI would like that to happen and pointed that out previously...but Massdrop have already said that it would most likely lead to shipping errors and the cost of shipping 2 separate things to the same customers as well. It seems like we jut have to wait it out until new years. I also thought that my shipment would arrive before Christmas since i'll be on vacation during Christmas until new years.
So I won't actually be seeing these caps till next year sadly.

inspectordetectorSorry about the late reply; just saw that you replied to my earlier comment.
After joining the ill-fated 'Wood Omega Style Headphone Stand' drop, Massdrop offered to either accept a full return and refund for the product, or to apply a 15$ credit to my account. The other order I was referring to was a seriously delayed order for the Aune T1; although I can't remember what, if anything, Massdrop did about that. I think that in the case of the Aune it was more the distributor's fault than Massdrop's, and I was just happy to be receiving regular shipping updates.
