Although I'm just a random person on the internet, I'd recommend you don't buy this, at least from Drop.
  1. you can buy it for $59 on Amazon and get it in a week rather than 2 months.
  2. you'll have to pay shipping on Drop. AKA, that price of $48 is gonna be a lot closer to $59 from Amazon.
As a DAC AMP combo however, this thing is pretty spot on. Magnetic cable is actually awesome too since I've gotten headphones yanked off my head one too many times from a chair or desk. I did also see from a review that you can get additional Magnetic cables, but I'm not sure where this guy got them from. He was using them in a hot swapping kind of situation which is nice. MooshMooshMooshI agree. I got mine from Amazon (ordered on Friday and delivered on Saturday!). I'm using it with my Samsung Note20 Ultra and so far have paired it with a few different IEMs (Sennheiser MX365, KZ-ATE, Mee M6Pro, and Fiio FH1) and just 2 headphones (ATH-M40x, and HD-461). While I don't find it earth shatteringly better, the Zerda does improve all of them a little bit, especially noticeable with the low end and high volume levels. The 3 different modes I find pretty useless. They aresignificantly different from each other, but only "music" is worth using. The "music" mode (greenish-yellow) is good, the "movie" mode is OK but not as good as "music" even when watching videos. The "game" (purple) mode is frankly useless and horrid sounding. I was jazzed about the form factor and ability to operate the buttons without removing my phone from my pocket, and it works really well. The buttons are nice and slightly "clicky" and allow control of playback nicely (play/pause, next track, back, +/- volume). My only complaint is that it seems the next track and back features are mapped to the wrong buttons? IMO next track should be assigned to the + button not the -. And the back (to the beginning of current song) should be assigned to the - button not the +. How does pressing + equate to going back to the track beginning? Oh well, minor annoyance. BTW the unit does get slightly warm. Not alarmingly so, but then I don't run it inside my pocket where there's no airflow. A couple minutes of use and it gets warmer than my phone ever has, but so far it's never gotten hot, just warm. As for the magnetic cable which everyone talks about. It's pretty nice if it was a cable that was frequently changed/unplugged. However I find it no more than a gimmick. People say it'll prevent damage from the cable getting caught and therefore the magnet end will disconnect, which IME isn't true. With every IEM/headphone I've tried, when I tested the disconnection the headphone cable has ALWAYS come unplugged and never the magnetic cable end. IMO the only real benefit is if you're using the Zerda with a PC and then switch to a phone, where the USB cable is being switched out (from the long USC-A cable to the short USB-C cable). Then the magnetic aspect makes it easy (and maybe less wear and tear on the connection?). But even that seems unnecessarily proprietary. The ability to just use a standard USB-C cable of my desired length would be better than to be limited to their magnetic cable where there is no length choice. Having the unit disconnectable from both sides (headphone and source side) is probably a lifesaver, however I don't see any reason to make the cable disconnect non-universal and therefore choice limiting. Overall I'm pretty happy with the purchase and price paid ($59 from Amazon, free shipping and received the next day) however (using a flagship level phone) it's not a very drastic improvement to the sound. I really appreciate the easy to reach controls, more so than I am the modest sound improvement, but maybe if I had higher end IEMs, or better ears?, I'd notice more?
Rowdy2026lol why so mad? I gave an alternative so people don't have to wait 2 months for something that is readily available. There really isn't any benefit from buying from Drop other than you get "points" to redeem on other purchases here. They also aren't affiliated links so I don't benefit from this at all. Should check yourself before you get all pissy over the internet over nothing. Although reviewing your profile and past comments, it seems you're just a negative nelly towards anything and everything. Hope you get some help on all that negativity!
Rowdy2026So do you think that the fact that I gave an alternative link was a bad thing? Do you think it hurt anyone? It's only meant to help people And here you are getting mad that I'm trying to help people lol Seriously though, looking through your discussion, there is maybe 2 discussions with anything positive to say, and the rest is being pissy for no reason or being stuck up about others not knowing something. Since I know you'll never not be a sarcastic asshole, I'll just block you and have the last word. Cya :)
