Lol on MSRP.
This seems like an insane amount of weight to me for a tent If packpacking. Anyone else feel over 5 lbs at minimum weight is a bit much to carry?

jaytee1972No, it seems about right. Marmot 2 person tents are in that range. You're likely going to spend another couple hundreds bucks to get to 4 lbs. Plus you split the weight between 2 people.

jaytee1972My opinion is that for a tent of that size and comfort, it is actually not heavy at all.

jaytee1972Yes. Keltys are not known for being ultralight tents. We have a 4p we use when taking our dogs with us, and we split the weight. Wouldn't do a long hike with one though.

LjtrekkerIf you absolutely must shed some weight, it might not be bad, but that's "minimum weight" it seems, so it's going to be higher with a fly and stakes. They're saving weight by using a 1 door/vestibule, so you're giving up comfort and space to store your stuff. It doesn't come with a footprint, so you're also going to have to add that to the price and weight to make it comparable. Also, I can't find anywhere that suggests the bottom is taped, which is nice to have.
The old adage holds, I think. With camping gear you can only pick two: cheap, light, or high quality.

LjtrekkerOnly 1 door though. That's a bit of a tradeoff that should be considered and not quite apples/apples, particularly if you are actually putting 2 people in the tent.
