Same here, blade is good budget metal, love the easy to sharpen wharncliff shape.
The design on on the side is a little strange too. It’s funky.
8CR13MoV & 8CR14MoV, Similar to AICHI AUS-8, an excellent value priced steel for its performance
The list of steels that I wouldn't rather have is quite short. 1. Any xCr where x<7, 2, AUS<8, 3. 1.4116, 4. 420 . There are probably more than a few that get there hackles up at my including 1.4116. Its edge holding ability in my experience is on par with and old guy with prostate troubles trying to hold it.
Yeah whenever you see a knife, especially a kitchen knife, labeled or advertised as 'German stainless' it's almost always 4116 or a variant of it.
It's tough to sell a knife with an inadequate steel these days, because there are decent enough steels available in many well made budget knives. There wasn't such competition to serve the lower cost knife niche in the past.
Looks great though!
