Given the price and the extra bulk, in what way is this superior to flashlights of the conventional form factor? What's the beam throw distance for this

phoenixsongThat Max runtime of 50,000 hours seems pretty impressive. I mean, that's over five and a half years, I'd think the batteries would self discharge quicker than that. Must be the benefit of such an odd design!

phoenixsongIt is a cool form factor and the handle is probably convenient for Search and Rescue. Also it won't roll away when you set it down. It's an older design not technically superior to modern flashlights at a similar price point, and the battery pack is proprietary which is a huge negative. I think this is more for the flashlight collector than the person who uses flashlights of this type daily. According to reviews it is a throwy light but the 800 meter spec is probably highly optimistic, 3 individual reflectors aren't going to throw as well as one big one, but the form factor does lend itself to good cooling which is an issue on lights in this lumen class with extended use.

AckattackerYeah, that was what I was thinking. It's kinda cool, but doesn't really achieve anything
