Is the 2k really that good? I've seen countless people recommend it.

GeoggaIt depends on what want from you pen. The L2K has something of a cult following. Some people absolutely love 'em, others ... not so much. That said, I happen to like the pen's design and feel in the hand. I purchased one in a previous drop. Some people have expressed concern about Lamy's QC when purchasing the EF nib, but you would be hard-pressed to find this pen (or most gold-nibbed pens) for less $$.

GonzoTGreatAppreciate it. I do agree, I do see many turned off due to the QC issues but others (many of those who don't speak) have found them amazing. Besides this amazing deal, I already heard about 2000 recommendations from tons of people. I have been looking at the 1911S and CH92 which are more expensive (but a bit more than the Lamy 2000 currently). Choices, choices.
