Call me cynical, but if the people wanting this drop to go again sincerely want/expect this to happen but with a lower price point then my opinion of those individuals isn't just rock bottom - its bedrock bottom. This drop was already a pretty damn good 15% off MSRP (assuming you could actually find a place with it in stock at that price) for a fairly new product and it had an additional 2 years tacked onto the warranty because its a model that isn't readily available for purchase by general consumers.
Sure its disappointing there was some misinformation at the start and not seeing it for $800 makes me sad, but whats $50 a monitor when you're already spending $800+? Would you penny pushers (if you are out there) really have bought this at $800 having the rumored knowledge that the AOC could potentially come in at $700? I feel like the answer is no, but I don't want to make assumptions.
At any rate, I do hope this monitor sees another drop, seems like a lot of people wanted it but couldn't swing it at the time. That is totally understandable, not everybody is fortunate enough to have disposable income of this magnitude to throw away without so much as a glance at the bank account on a pair of monitors (or hell - even one). But to be prudish over $50 dollars and have a sense of entitlement for a lower price on the next drop (if it happens) because its no longer an "early adopter" thing - I bite my thumb at those with that mentality.
To the rest of you stately gents however, lets enjoy our purchase and hope our good fellows who could not get in on this drop, due to lack of disposable currency, get their opportunity soon for the glorious price of $850.
