They will work with the Blon BL-03 but it would be a very awkward & odd looking fit. I would not recommend it. It would be crazy overkill anyway.......

What is the outer material made of (the gold/copper wire? is it sheathed? or is that bare braided metal that will oxidize?

It is sheathed in a gold paracord-like material. As I said in my review, the "bling" factor is high but it's going to be tough to keep clean. It's fairly thick but very flexible.
