Anyone thinking of getting a strap to replace the black rubber one? I'm debating if I want to order on now, or wait until I have the watch in my possession to see what would look best
renuzit414Well I'm trying to patina my case but cant get the strap off the springbars are impossible and I'm not a watch noob! I'll try with a blade next time to see if I can catch the little collars. My normal springbar tool wont touch them
AndyAThanks for the information. I just tried your method and it worked rather quickly. Thank again. I put a wotancraft strap that cost more than the turtle
AndyAThanks. Strap a couple years old and buckle don't match. I'm debating on using cape cod on both watch and strap buckle and see if they patina together
AndyAI might do the vinegar method but going to use it for a few days more before I patina it. Seems you had some sea water mist on yours. I literally use to keep a bottle of sea water in my closet for instant patina needs.
Lwb2017Yes I hit it with liver of sulfur then lifted it with a Cape cod then misted it. I went for the green oxidized look after loving the bronzy by panerai
If you try it be warned that it reacts FAST although it's removable with a Cape cod. I dipped mine for 60 seconds before putting it in the baking soda solution and it went almost black in that time. LOS isn't for the feint of heart haha
renuzit414Hi
Did you have any problems removing the spring bars?... Mine seems to have oversized spring bars, maybe 26mm cramped instead of 24mm, making it very difficult to remove them... In the end I might need to cut them off
Timur-i-LengI haven't even tried removing the rubber strap yet, because I'm still waiting on my leather strap to come in! From what I've heard from other people on here, you probably do need to cut them off :(
M--kThis is a fun game. Orange I think is the best option there, personally.
Though a simple all black nato or leather option would also be very fitting.
DataWarriorHa! Maybe I will next time.
Because I guess I'm not done yet. I have a few more yet to install and with some mixing and matching of parts (like the black Panerai-style buckle on the orange rubber strap) or customizing (like the first leather strap pic where I replaced the orange stitching with white)... I still have a number of combinations yet to try. And then potentially share.
But I wouldn't bother if I didn't like the basic watch. Which so far I definitely do. :)
ltopperIt is!
Thanks, I like the orange rubber one a lot too. On the wrist fit & comfort as well as aesthetically. In person, the colour match to the minute hand is really close. I will probably rebuild it a couple more times with a bronze buckle and white and/or black keepers to see what works best with the case and face.
M--kOo love to see what you come up with. The current strap I am using for mine is a black leather strap with white stitching. Currently still looking for an additional strap that I can wear when I want to change it up. Ill post something here once I find it.
renuzit414I finally found a new strap that I like, ended up getting one from Gruppo Gamma because they have a bronze buckle I like. I wish it wasn't stamped with their name, but I like the rest of it. Also polished it up a bit so I can start my slow patina journey
renuzit414I really like it! It looks like the thread colour is a really good match to the bronze.
And that buckle being so angular is a great match to the case design. I want that buckle!
I haven't settled yet, but have a few more tries to share. I have modified a few of the straps and components with many of these different versions I have shown so far. The last one is my current favourite with the leather being an interesting match to the case colour, and I re-stitched it with white and orange thread. For now... :)
