B.mani know he has a surefire (because he gave one to me), but not sure of his others. cant tell you much about the surefire LED-wise, since i am not really a flashlight guy. I buy all kinds of stuff from this site, and somehow fell into another community. damn you, massdrop!

treykingGood choice. Nichia is not as cool (in both sense of the word), but it's much easier on the eyes.

Paul321Tough choice. If he uses high he won't notice much of a difference close up. HCRI is rare. You know anyone that has HCRI lighting? Beside incandescent every LED and fluorescent bulb in your house will probably have 70~80cri. Wouldn't you be little curious? $25 is steal for something that has this. 5~6years ago you'll only find HCRI on limited ED or collector's lights.
This light isn't suppose replace what he has. He probably has a light that exceed 200lm. Surefire only use coolwhite. The Nichia will make a fine inspection light for close up stuff. If he does outdoor bbq the HCRI will help visually tell how well done the meat is.

MassDI hope you have better luck with those then I did. Bought a box of 10 and every one of them has failed in less than a year. Total garage.

PistonsandgearsThat's unfortunate. Mine have been in use for close to a year and every one of them are still working.
