I'm in for the Nichia and very excited about this light. I'm just disappointed they changed to LMH since I never use low on my standard alu Lumintop AAA w/cree, nor do I use high setting normally. The former because it's too low, and the latter because it consumes the battery too fast and gets the light hot.
Anyone on the LMH camp, why or how do you use the low setting as your main?

Mario.PaulI'm bummed too. All my other Tools are M-L-H and now this one will be an oddball.
Apparently, Massdrop listened to some 'expert' and they asked the factory to change the sequence.
It is a matter of preference, and not which one is superior. It is unfortunate that one person's preference got taken as 'expert opinion' and everyone has to live with it.

Mario.PaulI use low settings a LOT! Because my significant other goes to bed early, and I stay up late reading comics and watching sci-fi movies (and wake up feeling like sh!t, but that's another story), when I go to bed I use the LOW setting a lot, to fumble around our bedroom without waking her.
I use an EagleTac D25AAA that I'll be retiring (i.e. gifting) when I get the Massdrop light. Even thought I got an early sample to review (check my review way at the beginning of the discussions), I wanted a production unit to use for everyday (and leave the sample aside as a curiosity). In fact I bought two, should I lose or damage the first one; I seriously think this will not come back at $25.

Mario.PaulIt all depends on where and how you plan to use your light. I prefer LMH personally. Its the middle of the night and I want to find my way inside, L is perfect. If I need more light, one more click and M it is. I rarely use H. If it was a twisty, I think MLH would be better, but for a clicky I like LMH.

sbsliderThe only problem is, the L on this flashlight is not low enough. In the scenario you envisioned, a flashlight should have L of one lumen or less. Henceforth, either this light should be MLH as the manufacturer originally designed, or LMH but with a sub lumen L. Now it is neither here nor there.
