TRexSrI think it is an acquired taste for sure, and it wouldn't look good in certain decor situations, but it's a lot for the money. Gerstner (of which this wood box is a cheap Chinese knockoff) has these boxes for close to 800-1000 dollars...however.... they have a Gerstner International line which are the same designs (MUCH better than the Chinese knockoff above) at a much lower price. The box above is about $130 and the difference is instead of fully solid hardwood it's made with hardwood veneer plywood and made in China instead of the US.
Personally I'm still torn as I really like the MD EDC but don't want synthetic coverings and top. I am convinced MD has an addon piece coming and that would make it even better. But not as synthetic. Sadface.
