if you are looking for an enjoyable headphone. One that is pleasant and pleasing to listen to after a long day at work, just get a pair of these. I have had mine since the end of 2016. I was able to jump into the original drop of the HD6xx. I have bought several other headphones throughout this time and I always ended up with these.
the 6xx lacks quantity in bass, but it does not lack quality. it has enough for genres like Jazz, not enough for other genres though. I am currently powering my 6xx through the Massdrop Liquid Carbon and it just such a beautiful pairing. There is zero fatigue. the liquid carbon adds a bit of umph on the bass too.
these are great headphones for vocals. Male & female
After almost 3 years of buying and selling headphones, these are still sitting on my desk, because I have not found a better value than these anywhere
From the painless ordering process to making sure that the product arrived on time professionally packaged, along with an invoice to the actual product itself - the HD 6XX - Wow! I have been listening to music for over 40 years and have never heard my music like this before. Little nuances that were never heard before come out here. Not like hearing it for the first time, but like hearing a different mix of the same song. Very impressive Drop, please give yourselves a big hand for making these beautiful headphones even more available for all to enjoy!
Open backs project sound both towards your ears and out the sides of the earpieces.
This makes the sound feel as if they are coming from further away. Good for replicating the directions of where each vocals and instruments are coming from; like at a concert. Close backs sound as if the music is coming from the centre of your head; you get less "directional" experience but they feel more intimate.
Open backs leak sound so if you are riding on public transport, the people sitting next to you might look at you sideways wonder why you are playing music for everyone around you.
Most high end headphones are open back so don't worry about losing any sound quality from the leakage!
I had some MOMENTUM wired headphones and decided to upgrade to these. Wow what a big difference. And these where $100 cheaper than the momentum wired I bought in 2018 and sound way better! I've never been disappointed with Sennheiser including the other 2 pair I own that are wireless.

Most Likely My Lifelong BIFL Cans
These have served as my desktop headphones for almost four years now and counting, and I suspect they'll stay in that role (so long as I don't somehow drop and step on them or something)
I'm not an audiophile and I lack the monetary background to afford being one. I am a listen-to-stuff-enthusiast, though, and it's been a long lineage of Sennheisers for me, starting from the HD 202s to the HD 558s. I decided to target these as my Christmas gift for myself back whence I bought them to upgrade from those.
I've gotta say, I'm definitely a Sennheiser patron for life. Quality and comfort are splendid. I cringe to think of the myriad times my headphones have fallen because of that-or-that careless reason. Years of getting up from my desk only to have the cord snag on my knee and pulled, tumbling to the desk or the ground. They're built to last.
Comfort is right for me. I hear folks with larger— perhaps wider— heads find discomfort in the tightness in the clamp. Pity. I could wear these for... who knows how long without any aching (unless I have on glasses). Clamp has enough force that they stay in place. Although, I will say that I still think the HD558s were even softer/velvety and more comfortable, in an extraneous manner. Kinda miss them.
For downsides, there's definitely something to be desired when it comes to the low end. If you've read reviews, you know. The earpads also wear out. They're the tires on your car and the tubes for your bike. You're gonna have to shell out some coin to replace them here-and-there if you want to refresh the quality. Unfortunate, but it is what it is.
crazy build quality problems, specifically the connectors on the headphones. if you even look at the connectors wrong they will cut out and eventually one side fully died after like 4 months. embarrassingly cheap construction, i dont think i will ever buy a sennheiser product ever again and certainly never anything on massdrop. why do you think its so cheap? cuz they skimp on materials and quality for these runs
The quality of these is incredible for the price. They are also very comfortable to wear for 4+ hours. I would highly recommend them to a casual listener like myself who wants to elevate their sound.

Everyone's right, this is a fantastic set!
I usually don't follow popular opinions but these Sennheisers are so good. The mids are so full bodied, bass has a good thump and the highs give a good air but not piercing. Yes I agree, if you are looking for a set of headphones around $200, you 'must' consider HD6xx or at least try them before ruling them out.
Excellent sound and a comfortable, detailed experience
Pros:
* comfortable, even with glasses. I easily wear them for hours without experiencing discomfort
* great sound quality and detail
* one of their lower priced cans, yet with the same great build and sound
* 3.5mm or 1/4" depending on your needs. Wired so no need to recharge
* open-back for a more even sound
* plug and play compatibility with basically any aux port (I use these with my laptop and then with my video game console's controller)
Cons:
* Wired, so may need adapter or Bluetooth dac to use with phone
* open-back, so others may hear your audio, and no noise cancelation
* sound stage might be a bit narrow and plain for some people's liking
* no phone app or special features. These aren't Airpods . . . (But this technically would be in the Pro category too and not just in the con category, since these will never need a software update and work consistently, and with open-back it basically has built in transparency mode on)
Need great audio and well-built headphones at an affordable price? These are for you! I love these and have found music more enjoyable with these than any other headphones I used in the past.
I am still completely satisfied with the immense value in this collaboration. The build on these have held up well, give or take a few scuffs here and here. I think it is safe to say, in general, the sound is unbeatable for the value. If you are like me, an on and off headphone enthusiast this headphone is quite accurate and not as fatiguing as others when having long sessions.
Four years later, I am only now thinking of upgrading!
One thing: make sure to change the pads after they loose their form and may effect your ears distance to the drivers (thus changing the sound over time).
