Probably the best headphones you can buy at $200
if you are looking for an enjoyable headphone. One that is pleasant and pleasing to listen to after a long day at work, just get a pair of these. I have had mine since the end of 2016. I was able to jump into the original drop of the HD6xx. I have bought several other headphones throughout this time and I always ended up with these. the 6xx lacks quantity in bass, but it does not lack quality. it has enough for genres like Jazz, not enough for other genres though. I am currently powering my 6xx through the Massdrop Liquid Carbon and it just such a beautiful pairing. There is zero fatigue. the liquid carbon adds a bit of umph on the bass too. these are great headphones for vocals. Male & female After almost 3 years of buying and selling headphones, these are still sitting on my desk, because I have not found a better value than these anywhere

A Top-Notch Experience From Beginning To End!
From the painless ordering process to making sure that the product arrived on time professionally packaged, along with an invoice to the actual product itself - the HD 6XX - Wow! I have been listening to music for over 40 years and have never heard my music like this before. Little nuances that were never heard before come out here. Not like hearing it for the first time, but like hearing a different mix of the same song. Very impressive Drop, please give yourselves a big hand for making these beautiful headphones even more available for all to enjoy!

What are "open back headphones"?
Open backs project sound both towards your ears and out the sides of the earpieces. This makes the sound feel as if they are coming from further away. Good for replicating the directions of where each vocals and instruments are coming from; like at a concert. Close backs sound as if the music is coming from the centre of your head; you get less "directional" experience but they feel more intimate. Open backs leak sound so if you are riding on public transport, the people sitting next to you might look at you sideways wonder why you are playing music for everyone around you. Most high end headphones are open back so don't worry about losing any sound quality from the leakage!
What is the best amp (or amp/dac) to pair with the HD6XX?
They go well with my Modi/Magni Schiit stack

Excellent Translation.
Extremely impressed with the 6XX's ability to create fantastic translation throughout the mixing/mastering process from DAW to car. I was also impressed with the packaging and attention to detail on every point.

4 years later- no regrets (first pair of "good" headphones)
tl;dr- 4 years of use, Highly recommended! I'm guessing that if you're reading this, you're probably not very experienced in this field, like me! My first attempt at buying an "audiophile" product as a normie. while the price is higher than I was originally happy to fork out for a pair of headphones, I took a gamble due to the recommendations from basically every other youtuber\reviewer for a starter headphone. The band was a bit tight at first but it loosened after a couple days of use- now they're very comfortable. I've owned them for 4 years now and honestly, I have no regrets- they were a significant upgrade from the ~80$ HP omens I was running at the time. They're driven from the PC's output, no DAC/AMP/EQ, and they really don't need it- plenty loud as is. (even when driven by an old smartphone's headphone jack!) I guess they sound kind of neutral- not bass heavy, not shrill, and definitely very clean and clear. Maybe I'd prefer them to be slightly bass-heavier, but since they didn't cost much (relatively speaking) and it's been so long, I'm comfortable forking out money for additional gear to last me for a while longer.

Absolutely Love them
I am trying these as my first open back cans and I absolutely love the feel of them. I’ve only ever used closed backs (DT 770s and others) and IEMs (truthear hexa) prior to them. This is like a breath of fresh air. I love how it feels a lot arier than closed backs.

Absolutely fantastic!
I have a small collection of Sennheiser headphones, that consists of the Momentum (1.0) On-Ears (wired), Momentum 2.0 Around-Ears (wired), Momentum 3.0 (or Momentum Wireless), HD560s and now the HD6XX. In sound quality, it surpasses everything I've previously owned. Although its sound stage is a recessed compared to the HD560s, it sounds so much more detailed, that I fell in love with it instantly. At this price, it's an absolute bargain.

Year ago I bought the first pair of HD6XX for my dad, he lives in Spain in apartment and now there's not enough space for the proper hi-fi system that he's used to listening to all his life before moved there. Paired it with ifi Zen Dac V2 with balanced cable and it's a pure heaven, you can't beat it. I was blown away how good this setup sounds, absolutely perfect! So I decided to buy it for myself, exactly the same setup. My headphone collection is not huge, but these headphones are number one there. I have Focal Bathys, B&O Beoplay HX, Blue Ella, M&D MH40, Shure Aonic 50 and Airpods Pro 2. Also I'm a big fan of 2.1 system and did a long way to build my home stereo. I always struggled with a feeling that I can achieve better sound that I already have and HD6XX helped me to calm down. I'll not buy any headphones more, I just don't want to. Got it for $179 from drop on sale. Are you kidding me? Just grab it immediately. For those who complained about bass, I have no issues with zen dac v2, cuz there is a magic truebass button and I love it so much, please read a reviews about this dac and how it works. It also has rca outputs and you can connect your dac to active monitors on your desk at the same time. I think this is a perfect combination to enjoy the music as much as possible below $500. I still can't believe that you can spend those money to achieve this sound. And Tidal Family plan now is $16.99 only! What a time we're living in!

Great Value Entry Level Headphones
I have now owned a pair of these headphones for almost 4 years, and they are still one of the best pairs of headphones I own to this day. But there is some information that I think anyone considering buying these should know before making their purchase not including how they sound, I think they sound great and there are a million people who have reviewed that aspect of the HD6XXs who are more qualified than me.
  1. They are open back, if you have never owned a pair of open back pair of headphones before this is something to consider. They bleed a lot of sound in an out, so if you plan on using them primarily in a noisy environment (or you don't want the people around you hearing what you are listening) I would consider a different set of cans.
  2. The pads wear out and genuine replacements are expensive ($50+ USD) and getting harder to find. Ever since the acquisition of Sennheiser's consumer audio division by Sonova, replacement parts directly from Sennheiser Consumer (Sonova) have been out of stock quite frequently, so you either need to find a certified distributor with them in stock or try out aftermarket alternatives like Brainwavz & Dekoni. The top headband also wears out, but does so slower from my experience and is easier to find replacement parts for, and going aftermarket on this part would not affect the sound as much as doing so for the pads would.
  3. They are comfortable, but not the most comfortable headphones out there in this price range. If you are just looking for the most comfortable headphones possible, this isn't the one for you. They are more than adequate however and I have had no issues wearing them for 10+ hours, just make sure your pads are not too worn down, as they age the comfort gets noticeably worse.
  4. Don't buy these for $200 ($220?). You can get these headphones for $160 multiple times a year, you can also buy used for $100 with little effort, but you will generally want to replace the pads bringing the price back up closer to that $160 price point. Do your research, but if you see these at $160 the value is more than there in my opinion (I own more than 1 pair of these, and have recommend & purchased it for friends and family).
These headphones will last basically forever if you maintain them, and the Sennheiser HD6?? platform has more that cemented itself as an affordable and long-lasting quality headphone family.

Vocal Powerhouse
I really like the tuning of the HD6XX for my personal tastes. The vocals are very forward and present, while the higher mids and treble are recessed, offering a more warm tuning. In combination with its light build and comfy pads, the 6XX are headphones you can wear for hours without any fatigue. Overall, really great headphones, but don't expect too much on the bass.

Great Sound
Bought these to upgrade from the 58x. Sound is a step up from the 58x. The build quality of the 6XX is definitely better, and the ear cups fit on my ears a bit better. Definitely enjoy these more.

Good starter
A lot of folks claim this is one of the baseline sets for audiophilia. As one gets more exposure to alternatives (within but mostly beyond this price bracket) it becomes clear how limited this set is. Low on energy (eg limited treble extension), low on bass, solid mids but low on spatiality and separation. For me this means they are genre-limited. I've had these for years now and probably spent no more than 7 hours with them. They have a time and place but for me that's infrequently and usually when I want to listen to music while focusing on something else. Also...that headband...painful for big heads. That all said, their build quality is strong and for folks looking to get into modding my understanding is that they're a decent set on this front. Would recommend but with caveats mentioned.

My first open backs and I love them
Mostly used IEMs before but decided that it's time to check out headphones hype. HD6XX is a great starting point so it was a no-brainer. I got more than I could expect for that price — wide stage and awesome bass performance. I have no problems with build quality and headphones are very comfortable. My first experience was a great one!
