I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Yes, like speakers and phono carts, headphones are mechanical and therefore will "break-in" over time and gain more of whatever signature they are voiced for. When I got my AKG K7xx, I thought it has super narrow staging, lack of bass and image. After about 8 hours of use or so the staging is still narrow compared to the hype, but slightly wider than both my Senns (also open cans). Also, bass has appeared and is close to satisfaction and imaging is ok. So I am holding out some hope for the HD6xx, we will know in a few hours.
As for the price - look at the numbers sold... Senhheiser gets to move tens of thousands of units, with no marketing or distribution costs...
As for the bass, the 650/6XX is definitely not a boomy headphone, but it is also not "missing" bass. A lot of people just getting in to audiophile gear seem to think that because all they've heard up to that point has been pretty bad consumer products like Beats and Gaming headsets, which have the bass cranked up. You get the 6XX for the mids. If you want something with more bass you're probably better off getting the 58X, which is also easier to drive with low end gear.
And as others have mentioned, the HD 6XX is indeed the same as the HD 650 except painted dark blue.
The 6XX is by far the technically superior headphone though.
