Hi everyone,
We have an update on the production status of the Massdrop x Apogee Vital 8-Inch Chef’s Knife. Unfortunately we ran into some issues with the mold of the G-10 handle, and because of this we now estimate that the Vital Chef's Knife will ship in late June.
During production we encountered a problem with the handle mold, which caused the handles to crack during assembly. We are now working with the manufacturer to make a new G-10 mold, a process that typically takes 4-6 weeks. Luckily our partners at Apogee, as well as the factory making the knives, were able to shorten this time so we can stay as close to schedule as possible. According to the new timeline, production should be complete around mid June.
We apologize for this delay and we are working the team to get these knives produced and shipped in a timely manner. If you don’t want to wait the additional time, you can cancel your order via the transactions page: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions We’ll provide an update in early June with the latest information.
AveryCunfortunate.. these things happen with these sorts of orders i suppose..
my receipt has my address at a place i will very certainly not be residing in anymore and i happen to be moving during the same period of time that these will be shipped... if i change my shipping address in massdrop will that fix the issue or do i need to address this with you guys directly?
if this bounces... just how far is this bouncing too? china, la, ny?

AveryCCan MD just add 1 month to any estimated shipping date for contingencies? Then, if everything goes right, people will get stuff early! I already assume that delays will happen, but some people do get upset about it and lose trust in MD's ability to deliver on time. I've already half-jokingly mentioned this to Yanbo, since a lot of keycap drops go through this. Just a thought.
congalongim waiting for a deal to close... which is "most certain" but not guaranteed...
im just afraid that the next person that lives here will take the knife and i will be sol...?
cartr1dgeLong as they haven't swapped to shipping you can still change it. Maybe your situation is unique but between when it actually ships to when you're moving you could probably find a time to nail down the address?
congalongthanks for the quick reply.. i don't know.. again the deal is pending.
i am just curious if i need to inform the shipper.. it's fine if it bounces.. i would prefer that.. i just dont want to lose the knife.. seems like a good value knife.

cartr1dgeIf they use FedEx you can reroute it to be held at a store after you get the tracking number.
cartr1dgeIf the new place isn't way too far from the old place, you could probably rent a mailbox for a couple months and have this shipped there. I rent a mailbox at a UPS store near where I work, I have most things shipped there just because it's convenient, but this is a great reason to rent one temporarily. There are more places than the UPS store that offer mailboxes too, and they're relatively cheap.
