Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. These need modding and patience to bring out the best in them. The most basic change I can suggest is to use an equalizer on these to bring down some of the treble and add some bass. Even then, results will vary quite drastically. The soundstage seems wide but I feel like the strong upper-mids help the HE-350s to 'fake' some of the width. Plus, I've noticed that the upper-mids and trebles don't strike me as particularly high-quality after using them with an amp.
If you're not particularly interested in all things audiophile but you can stretch to $200, get the AKG K7XXs, which are probably all the headphone you'll ever really need.
If you're sticking to around $100, try the Lasmex L-85s that appear on Massdrop occasionally or get the AKG M220s with an amp.
