After watching a recent review on YouTube I’ve decided against purchasing for now . This just seems to be overpriced for it’s quality and sound. I Would appreciate opinions from those who actually purchased it and have had time to form an opinion. Thanks
MusicLoverCurious as to what you think makes these overpriced? Been waffling over them for a while since I'm looking for a premium closed planar and sadly there aren't a ton of options.

jaydunndidditSearch Youtube for recent reviews and decide for yourself. Just curious why do you feel that there aren’t a lot of options?
MusicLoverBeyond Audeze and MrSpeakers, who else is really competing in this space for premium, expensive closed back planars? I'm sure I'm missing some of the smaller companies but no one else seems to be doing much for this niche currently.

jaydunndidditI personally love Audeze Headphones so far. I have yet to purchase the Lcdmx4 and Lcd4z but I have all the others and don’t feel you can go wrong with any of them and it’s a great company. They stand behind all their products and allow thirty day free returns if not happy. I’ve not ever had to send anything back.

jaydunndidditI’m tempted to purchase the MASSDROP X AIRIST AUDIO R-2R DAC but I’m a little nervous over some of the reliability issues. Have you purchased it yet?

MusicLoverI have zero interest in any Audeze products beyond the Mobius I currently own. Audeze had been working with Massdrop on a collab headphone and decided to pull out of the deal at the last minute... That product became the LCD2 Classic. Audeze basically used Massdrop to help them tune it and then sold it on their own for more money - not cool. As for Ether CX reviews, there are 22 on here (including one from me) and lots of other feedback at places like HeadFi. Just about everything that has been said is very positive. Josh Valour's recent YouTube review has me wondering if he followed the recommended break in guidelines. I would describe the CX as being on the ever so slightly "warm" side of neutral after proper break in. They definitely are not a clinical or sterile sounding headphone to my ears. Definitely an end-game closed headphone for me.

gtb75I’m not sure if my conversation with someone else offended you but I assure you that was not my intention. I would love a comparison between the Cx and another headphone that you feel might be it’s equal. My issue for why I’m waiting is I don’t feel from what my research results have found is that the price just doesn’t justify my spending $900. for them. I may feel different later but for now I can’t see enough good reviews to purchase them. I’m learning towards the the LCD4z or a few others at this time. As I mentioned earlier in another post I’m extremely happy with every Audeze Headphone so far. But hey that’s just my opinion.

MusicLoverNo offense here... I just am not a fan of Audeze as a company after what they pulled with Massdrop. I feel Massdrop has done a lot for the audiophile community as a whole, so it was a real disappointment to hear what Audeze did. As for the Ether CX, you probably won't see a ton of reviews out there for them since they are a Massdrop exclusive and they have sold less than 400 of them (and not all of those have been delivered yet). The only other comparable closed headphones I compared them to were the Focal Elegia, and I definitely preferred the Ether CX to those. There is just an ease to the presentation of the Ether CX which lets you listen fatigue free for hours. The Ether CX is also vastly better than my Fostex TH-X00 which I was using as a closed headphone before I got the CX. Full disclosure - I have a number of MrSpeakers headphones, so I generally like Dan's "house sound". That being said, I actually wasn't a huge fan of the original Ether C when I heard it - but he definitely got it right with the CX.

gtb75Thank you. I appreciate all Massdrop has done too. I have made many purchases here too. I have a rather large collection of Headphones from many different manufacturers. In Business sometimes partnerships don’t work and sides go separate ways. Audeze has been great to deal with and I feel they make great products and that’s all I can go on. Take care

gtb75How these compare to Ether C Flow?

michael.yeI haven't spent any meaningful time with the C Flow, so I can't provide any feedback on your question. That being said, I would be surprised if any difference C Flow has over the CX is worth the additional cost. There is probably a difference, but I suspect it isn't a large one.
